1. 1. 1. 1. What is a commission? Why commission an artwork?Commissioning art is the process of hiring an artist to create an artwork, based on the client’s request. There are many reasons why people commission artworks. Sometimes, the piece they really like is too small or too expensive. In that case, a client is likely to request a larger or more affordable piece.

            Other times, a client needs an artwork in a different color than the original.Interior designers may commission art that fits in the color scheme of their project, while some clients might want to “brand” the piece with corporate colors, to complement their visual identity. Whatever the reason, commissions are very common in the art world, and most artists will be more than happy to create a piece according to the client’s desires.

            We know that commissioning art can be intimidating, especially for the first-time buyer. That’s why, we’ve made this blog post that easily explains the whole process.

• • • • Once we identify the subject matter, size, style, creation process and price — you will receive a one-page contract outlining the sale.
      • 50% is due upon signing, and 50% is due upon completion and approval — prior to shipping.
      • Shipping is additional, and will be calculated for approval in advance.
      • Corporate and commercial commissions may require a statement of work.
      • International collectors are responsible for any applicable duties and/or taxes.

• • • • We will create a digital visual strip showcasing approx. 5 potential compositions and send them to you via email for review and approval.
      • Thereafter, we will create around 3 physical samples.
      • Thought the processs, you will be on this journey of creation through images and videos. You can choose to share the post on my site, or keep it private.
      • We will send a visual preview (video and photos) of your painting for approval, prior to signing.
