Iceland Lava
Although you see one cohesive piece in this photograph, all the five elements were incorporated in its creation.
Fire formed the lava rock, which later became an element of the Earth. I then borrowed the rock from the Earth and pulverized it into black pigment. The pigment was mixed with water and next applied to the paper as shown by this photograph; to which, the work finally air-dried to completion.
The unspoken relationship between an artist and Earth is so poetic and dare I even say misunderstood. All the materials I use come from the Earth and are returned there; I am just a step in their journeys.
